Grand Canyon Skywalk Nearly Complete
Remember that Grand Canyon Skywalk I blogged about a few months back? Well, apparently it's nearly finished. According to National Parks Traveler the platform was moved into place yesterday, and the skywalk is set to open by the end of the month.
The Hualapai tribe built the skywalk with the hopes of luring tourist to the area and charging them twenty-five bucks a popt to walk out over the Grand Canyon, and peer down through the glass platform into emptiness below. The platform itself extends 70 feet out over the Canyon, and will allow visitors to see one of the great natural wonders of the world in way that has never before been possible.
While I have to admire the tribe's ingenuity, and while I have no doubt that they will be rolling in cash soon enough, I can' help but think that $25 is a bit much to take a stroll out on to a glorified patio. It's a very cool concept, but I think I'd rather hike down the trail into the Canyon itself. What do you think?
