Gear Box: Another Adventure Cam!

Yesterday I made a post about a tiny video camera that you could wear while skiing/hiking/climbing/whatever to capture your m ore adventurous moments. Today, Rick over at the Hike Half Dome Blog sends word of an alternative camera that does the same thing for less.

The camera is called the Digital Hero 3 from GoPro Camera and it comes in multiple flavors that can be mounted on a helmet, car, or wrist. The camera itself runs just $140 and and weighs in at 4.5 ounces. Furthermore, it is waterproof down to 100 feet and is designed to take a licking on the trail. It saves your videos to SD cards, which are cheap, convenient, and can withstand the elements, and has a number of options such as the ability to take a 3 megapixel image every 5 seconds or filming constantly for 3 hours straight, so you have multiple ways of capturing your adventure.

While I have to admit, the VholdR camera from yesterday looks sexier and more polished in it's design, it's pretty tough to beat the Digital Hero 3 when it's half the price. Check out sample videos here, then begin planning your next YouTube opus.
