Team IBD Adventures Summits Kilimanjaro
A few weeks back I wrote about Clinton Shard, a 16-year old from Canada who suffers from Crohn's Disease and was climbing Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and funds for that disease. The team's blog has been updated with the news that they successfully reached the highest point in Africa yesterday.
Clinton was joined by others who share his affliction, and together they were Team IBD Adventures. The program was put together by Rob Hill, who founded the Intestinal Disease Education and Awareness Society (IDEAS for short) to help those that suffer from Crohn's, Irritable Bowl Syndrome, or other intestinal issues to live a normal, more healthy life.
According to the team blog, in addition to Clinton and Rob, Phil Wu, Andy Manson, Jimmy MacKenzie and Paul Head all reached Uhuru Peak at approximately 8 AM local time in Tanzania yesterday. The expedition was declared a success, although they are still working on their fund raising goals. If you would like to help out, click here to donate to the cause.
This doesn't appear to be the last adventure from Team IBD either, as their Treks Page lists several more upcoming expeditions. It seems that they will be headed to the Grand Canyon, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu and even Everest Base Camp in the near future.
Thanks to DSD for letting me know the team has successfully finished their climb. Congrats everyone!
