Tour de France 2007 Preview

The Tour de France gets underway in just a few days, with the Prelude taking place on Saturday, July 7th. The race actually gets underway in London this year, before making it's way over to the mainland, and by most accounts, it's a wide open race.

GreatOutdoors.com has put together a small preview of "Le Tour" as they will be providing daily coverage of the whole event by Beth Schneider, who will be documenting the race and offering commentary. Beth is a sports photographer with more than 20 years of Tour experience, so her insights should be quite interesting to read.

The preview lists the stages of the race and Beth's short list of riders who will contend. Her list looks like this:

Dave Zabriskie, American, races for Team CSC
Andreas Kloden, German, racing with Astana
Alexandre Vinokourov, Kazakastan, racing for Astana, a Spanish team
Carlos Sastre, Spanish, Team CSC
Frank Schleck, Luxembourg, rides with Team CSC
Cadel Evans, Australian, rides for Lotto
Alejandro Valverde, Spanish , Caisse d'Epargne
Levi Leipheimer, American, the Discovery team
Oscar Pereiro, Spanish, rides for Caisse d'Epargne

If I had to pick a name on that list to watch out for, I'd probably go with Oscar Pereiro, but I think several of those men could be wearing yellow on the Champs-Elysées in a few weeks. Who is your pick to win it all?
