Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge Begins Friday!
It's still a few days off, but the 2nd Annual Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge is set to get underway this Friday, and I received notes from several friends over the weekend who were setting off to compete in the event.
The race made quite a splash last year with it's inaugural edition, and many racers commented on what a great event it was. The six day stage-race will pit coed teams of four against one another in a variety of activities including Sea Kayaking, Camel Hiking, Cross Orienteering, Mountain Biking, Adventure Running, Rope Activities, and In Line Skating. I'm actually a bit surprised to see "Camel Hiking" back on this list following last years stage in which the camels were, shall we say, less than willing participants.
There will be 37 teams on hand from 21 different countries, with a number of the best racers in the world competing for a total prize purse of more than $236,000. You can check out the entire team list here, and clicking on the team names provides good biographical information about the competitors.
Look for updates later in the week once things get underway, and good luck to all the teams.
