Intelligent Travel Blog Interviews Sarah McNair-Landry

The Intelligent Travel Blog, official blog of National Geographic Traveler Magazine, has conducted a nice interview with Sarah McNair-Landry, who is currently leading a team to the South Pole for her families' North Winds Polar Expedition company.

I mentioned Sarah a few weeks back when she was interviewed by ExWeb, and at the time I mentioned that at the age of 22, she was already a veteran of both the North and South Pole. This interview notes that she became the youngest person to ever ski to the South Pole at the age of 18 when she went with her brother Eric a few years back. The siblings were named as National Geographic Adventurers of the Year last year for their epic ski journey across Greenland.

In this interview, Sarah talks about some of her best expeditions, how she prepares for these long journeys, and the physical and mental rigors of being on the trail in the Antarctic. We also learn that Sarah is an aspiring filmmaker, intends to kite-ski back to Hercules Inlet when she's done guiding her current team, and thinks that Hood River, Oregon is a "warm" place to go kite surfing.

Something tells me that this girl's definition of "warm" is somehow different from the rest of us.
