Adventure Travel Ideas From Forbes Traveler

ForbesTraveler.com has a couple of interesting articles with suggestions for the adventure traveler in all of us.

First up, is their Top Ten Volcano Adventures with some excellent suggestions of hot spots to hit "from Alaska to Zaire". The included slideshow has some nice pictures, and touches on some amazing destinations such as Mount Liamuiga Volcano on St. Kitts Island, which has such highlights as a giant bamboo forest and swimming in the crater with the steaming fumaroles. If island life doesn't inspire a sense of adventure, than perhaps Mt Vesuvius will do the trick. Here you can tour the remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum in all their archeological glory. Others include various volcanoes in Alaska, Niyragongo Volcano in Zaire, and one near and dear to my heart, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

And for those who like a little more meat in their adventures, bad pun fully intended, check out the Top Ten Predator Vacations for some equally amazing destinations. Highlights of this list include viewing Great White Sharks in Cape Town, South Africa, where you can actually go on a cage dive if you want to get up close and personal. If you'd prefer to stay on dry land, than perhaps a visit to the Serengeti in Tanzania is more your speed. Another adventure that I can attest to being simply amazing. Also making the list is polar bear viewings in Churchill, Manitoba, getting up close and personal with Bengal Tigers in India, and swimming with the piranhas in the Amazon, amongst others.

There are certainly some very cool adventures here and enough things to add to your "Life List". Like any of us around here need a longer Life List huh? Well, just in case yours was getting too short, go climb a volcano. With a lion chasing you. ;)
