Everest 2010: Alan Interviews TA Loeffler

As the lead-up to the 2010 climbing season on Everest continues, Alan Arnette keeps feeding us great stories to keep our minds occupied while we wait for April to get here, and the crazy Himalayan action to commence. Today, we get another great interview, this time with Canadian climber TA Loeffler.

The interview begins with a great introduction to TA, who has an extensive background in outdoor adventure. Besides climbing, she is an avid paddler, camper, and skier as well. TA has been on Denali, and has claimed summits on Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, and Kosciusko too, as she knocks off the Seven Summits. This year, she'll be climbing with Peak Freaks on Everest, going after the Big Hill itself.

Alan asks TA about her previous climbing experiences and how they have shaped her approach to climbing. He also inquires about what has inspired her to go after the Seven Summits. TA is a teacher and motivational speaker as well, and she shares some of the topics she touches on in her lectures, while also sharing a few of her training techniques, which are interesting to say the least.

It's hard to believe that we're really not all that far away from the start of the season. For those of us who follow along at home, it'll seem like an eternity before it gets underway, but for climbers like TA, it'll be here before they know it, and they'll soon be running off to catch a plane to Kathmandu, hoping that they haven't left their favorite stocking cap behind. I'm ready for the fun to begin! Anyone else looking forward to it?
