Roz Savage Attempts Solo Row Across Pacific
We have another article from National Geographic, this time from Adventure, which has posted an interview with Roz Savage who is about to embark on an attempt to row across the Pacific.
Roz made headlines back in 2006 when she became the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic. Along the way, she had to deal with broken oars, loss of satellite radio contact, terrible waves, an incredibly slow pace at sea, and all the psychological issues that go along wtih being alone on the open water for weeks on end.
Not one to shy away from suffering however, Roz will now go for an even bigger prize. Her Pacific journey will begin in California sometime in the next few days, and will continue until she makes landfall in Asia. She is expected to be at sea for upwards of three years to achieve her goal.
In the interview, Roz notes that her boat is currently undergoing some repairs, and that it isn't likely that she'll be able to set out tomorrow. However, she is still determined to get underway soon, so it's likely that by the weekend, her solo row of the Pacific will be underway. You can read about Roz and all the stages of her journey, by checking out her official website.
