50 States, 50 Summits, 50 Days = Done!
Remember when I first posted on the 50 States, 50 Summits, 50 Days attempt back in May? It was the attempt by Coleman sponsored athlete Mike Haugen to reach the highest point in all 50 states in 50 days. Well, it seems Mike has finished up, and he had five days to spare!
The event kicked off with Mike summitting Denali way back on the 9th of June, and the clock started ticking when he reached the top. From there he went on to visit all 50 States, completing his quest on the 26th of July at the summit of 13,796 foot Mauna Kea in Hawaii. When it was all said and done, Mike had driven over 15, 138 miles, hiked and climbed another 302 miles, and had gained 114,114 feet of elevation.
The "50 States in 50 Days Challenge" website has lots of great info from the trip, just in case you want to follow in Mike's footsteps. You can read his blog, which has lots of great entires from throughout the challenge, check out his gear (all from Coleman of course), and watch videos" from the trip.
Great stuff to check out and congratulations to Mike on this accomplishment. His last blog post is ominously titled: "Done... for now!", which seems to indicate we'll get more adventure from Mike in the near future.
Thanks to the GoBlog for reminding me about this!
