Italian Climbing Teams Secret Patagonian Mission A No Go!

Remember this article I posted last week regarding the Italian climbing team who had completed that crazy summit on Cerro Torre last year, and were back in Patagonia this year to attempt a top secret climbing mission? Well, according to MountEverest.net the mission has been scrubbed due to the wild and unpredictable Patagonian weather. You can find all the details here.

With the climb now a no go, the team revealed with they had in mind, and it was indeed an audacious adventure. The plan was to make a complete traverse from Cerro Torre to Cerro Standhardt, with a climb of Punta Herron and Torre Egger in-between. It would have been a challening climb in the best of conditions, to say the least, but with the unpredictable weather that Patagonia is noted for, it became unwise to pursue the goal. Perhaps the team will give it another go next year.
