Adventure Tragedies

A couple of sad notes to report on:

First The Sydney Morning Hearld is reporting that the search for missing kayaker Andrew McAuley has been called off. McAuley was attempting a solo paddle from Tasmania in Australia to the South Island in New Zealand. On Friday, he set off a distress beacon, and search and rescue teams went into action. While his kayak has been recovered, there is no sign of the 39 year old man.

Meanwhile, Team Geared Up has posted a blog entry noting that three climbers have died on the Matterhorn. Ivan Nenkov, Philip Jasmati, and Tihomir Stoyanov were found dead on the northern slope of the mountain at about 3606 feet.
