A Couple of PQ Quickies

A couple of quick updates from the Primal Quest Website that might be of interest.

First off, last week they posted a very nice profile of Team Orion Health from New Zealand. Orion Health has only been on the racing scene a few years, but have already established themselves as one of the top teams with a podium finish in the Adventure Racing World Championships and taking first in XPD Australia. They've also strung together a series of 13 straight wins in 24 hour races when racing in their home country. Read the rest of the profile to learn more about this team that hopes to challenge Nike next year.

The PQ staff continues to play coy about the location of next year's race, but does promise that we'll get an announcement very soon. Word is that CEO Don Mann, Course Director Chris Caul, and a few others are on the actual course at this very moment, finalizing the details and putting their names to the permits. Here's one interesting tid-bit we can all stew on until the actual course is announced however:

"The summit of Mt. Everest is 29,026 feet, which after leaving base camp is just over 13,000 feet in elevation gain.

Primal Quest 2008 will have over 95,000 feet of climbing."

With that much vertical gain over the length of the course, you know it has to be in some very remote, and mountainous areas. I can't wait until the announcement is official. Stay tuned!
