Jetboil Introduces The Helio Cooking System
Back in 2004 jetboil introduced their Personal Cooking System that quickly won high marks for it's speed of heating up, efficient use of gas, and small size. It went on to become a best seller and win numerous awards in the outdoor industry, not to mention become a favorite with hikers, backpackers, and climbers alike.
Now, Jetboil is at it again, introducing a brand new system that employs the "Worlds First Liquid Butane Injection System". The new stove is dubbed the Helios and is set to hit the market sometime this Spring. If you believe the marketing hype, the system is suppose to maintain the safety and convenience of the similar canister based cooking systems, while providing a constant level of heat, no matter the altitude and temperature.
They system will come in 2.0 and 3.0 liter sizes, and like the original cooking system, all of the parts will store neatly inside the cooking pot. Speaking of which, the pot is also lined in the familiar neoprene insulation, which protects our hands, while keeping the contents hot.
Sounds like the new Helios system is going to be a nice improvement over the current PCS. If it maintains it's small size and high level of quality, I have a feeling Jetboil has left the competitors behind once again. Maybe I can get my hands on one to review once they become available.
